Daniel O'Brien was born in Hinesburg, Vermont, on September 18, 1853. His parents were Michael and Julia Coffey O'Brien.
Bridget Keefe was born in Rockingham, Vermont, in August 1858. In 1862, she was adopted by James and Mary McDonough.
Daniel and Bridget were married on October 3, 1877. They are living with Daniel's parents, Michael and Julia Coffey O'Brien in the 1880 census.
Daughter Mary Jane O'Brien was born July 25, 1878, in Hinesburg. She died two months later on September 22.
Daughter Eleanor Joan "Nellie" O'Brien was born July 11, 1882, in Hinesburg.
Son Patrick O'Brien was born on February 28, 1885, in Hinesburg.
Daughter Mary Ann O'Brien was born on February 4, 1895, in Hinesburg.
Son Leo O'Brien was born on February 28, 1885, in South Burlington.
Bridget O'Brien died Deecember 9, 1901.
From 1908 to 1926, Daniel O'Brien served nine two-year terms in the Vermont House of Representatives. In 1920, he invited everyone to a dance at the Town Hall in South Burlington on November 10, 1920. An article on October 30, 1926, commented on his style as a legislator. He lost the 1926 election and expressed thanks to his voters on November 6, 1926.

Daniel O'Brien died June 12, 1927. The Funeral Mass was at the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception in Burlington. He was buried in St. Joseph's Cemetery in Burlington.
