According to the Connecticut Marriage Index of 1897-1968, James Galligan and Rita McDonald were married in New Haven on May 22, 1916.

In the 1917 Connecticut Military Census, James Galligan was living at 65 Saltonstall Avenue in New haven. He was married, working as a carpenter, was was 5'9" tall, and weighed 140 pounds. He had experience with searchlights. He had served in the Army in Panama as a Private for one year. He could ride a horse, but could not drive a car.

In his 1942 Draft Registration, James Goodrich Galligan was born July 11, 1892. He was living at 76 Bishop Street in New Haven. He worked at the New Haven Carpenter & Cabinet Shop at 69 Clarke Street. His wife was named Rita Anne. He was 5'10" tall, weighed 148, had brown eyes and bown hair, and a ruddy complexion.

Sometime between 1950 and 1973, James and Rita moved to Houston, Texas. James died in 1973 (Find a Grave). Rita died in 1980 (Find a Grave).

Galligan grave at the Veterans Administration Cemetery in Houston. The cemetery was dedicated December 7, 1965. Houston became a national cemetery in 1973 after the passage of the National Cemetery Act. The Houston facility was slightly smaller than the 450 acres of Arlington National Cemetery, to which it was compared.

According to his Death Certificate, James Goodrich Galligan died on August 11, 1973, at Rosewood General Hospital in Houston, Texas. He was buried at Veterans Administration Cemetery in Houston. His occupation was self-employed builder.
